Organic Cotton

cotton_bolls_7

Growing cotton uses up to 25% of all pesticides in the world and in many countries cotton-farming consumes vast quantities of the scarce resource, fresh water. Therefore we only use organic cotton, free of pestisides. We also strive to use the best fibres to increase the lifespan and choose cotton only grown in areas where the amount of downpour are enough to sustain the farming of the cotton.

Silk

Organic Silk

Silk is the ultimate luxury raw material and fibre. There are fantastic sustainable sides to silk, but there are animal treatment issues. Thus: Nothing is easy. Our silk is made by boiling the intact cocoons and unwinding the single silk strand onto reels. This is done so the silk fibers are not broken and can be reeled off in a continuous strand to enhance the quality of the thread.

The raising of domesticated silkworms and the life of wild silkworms is, by nature, sustainable. Silk fabric when produced by weavers on handlooms has a near zero energy footprint and satisfies most of the guidelines for sustainable fabric production.

Corozo Buttons

Corozo

The corozo nut is a 100% natural, non toxic and durable product used for carving figurines, turning buttons and crafting other fashion accessories. It is the seed of a tropical palm that is many times referred to the great similarity of elephant ivory. Its porous nature allows colors to penetrate deep into the surface which makes it an excellent material for dyeing.
